It's so warm outside!

Since the last time I posted, we have experienced our first earthquake. Well, the first that I remember. In the early hours of April 18 (around 5:40am), the earthquake shook our house. Will was already up and he immediately ran into the bedroom and said, "was that an earthquake?" I said, "I think so." Then he dashed into Sam's room and scooped him up. Sam was laying in bed awake listening to his crib toy (in an attempt to go back to sleep). After seeing Daddy, Sam decided it was time to be up! So we began our day at 5:40am. Fun times.

This week we have spent a lot of time outside. We went to the zoo on Tuesday. We got there early and enjoyed taking our time. Sam loves the giraffes, bears, and lions (roar!). He watched the Walrus for quite some time. I think he wanted to be in the water with him. Yesterday we spent some time at the park- swinging, sliding, running. Lots of fun.

Today we brought Daddy lunch at work and Sam showed off for Daddy's office. Sam and I are both fighting seasonal allergies so we may need to stay inside this afternoon. We'll see.

I'll add one picture. This is in the morning when Sam decided he needed to brush his teeth like mom and dad. He also likes to take drinks of water from the bathroom cups. The small things in life that Sam enjoys.

Here are a couple more videos displaying Sam's language development.

In this video, Sam uses his word for yes ("um da" means yes in Sam language). Then he politely says, thank you.

In this video, Sam is reading to himself. He loves to read!

April 16

I told Will that I wanted to start a blog so I could share pictures and videos without sending out emails. So, voilĂ ! I'll try to update it weekly.

Yesterday Sam got another haircut (see picture on right side). This time it is cut very short so it will be a while before he gets it cut again. He did an awesome job and didn't shed a tear.

Today is April 16. Will was up at 3:15am so he could make his 5:30am flight. Sam was up crying just a few minutes before he got up making it more difficult for Will to get up. Will called tonight and his flight was delayed so he's not sure if they will make their connector- so who knows when he'll be home.

Last week Sam went to the doctor and had the beginning of a double ear infection. He's finishing his medicine and seems to be feeling better. That is, until this morning. We were playing outside and he was pulling the wagon when he tripped over the uneven surface and fell onto his hands. When he fell it took about 1/3 of his thumb nail off. And you guessed it, it is his right thumb, the one he sucks. So he can't suck it and gets very frustrated when he can't. This really just interrupts his sleep (like right now, it's 10:15pm and his is starting to cry, now he's back to sleep). He has Little Einsteins bandaids but I don't think he cares about them. He just wants to suck his thumb. Could be a long night!

Here's a picture of the bandaged finger:
I love taking videos b/c it really captures Sam's personality. Here are a few new things.
In the first video, I am asking Sam how old he is and how old he is going to be:

In this video, I say "Ready" and Sam says, "Set, Go!" I thought I'd narrate just in case you don't understand him. We use to say, "Ready, Set" and then he would say "Go" but he decided he would like to say "Set!"

That is all for today.
