Happy Birthday?

So Christmas has Sam a little confused. Everytime he sees a gift he assumes it's someone's birthday (usually his own). He'll even break out into the birthday song. In fact, he breaks out into song for everything these days. He'll sing about Mommy finishing her breakfast or Daddy coming home from work. It's actually quite entertaining and little like Will Ferrell in the "Elf" movie.

We were able to see Santa at Sam's school a couple of weekends ago. While Sam didn't cry, you can see that he didn't look very happy either. I think we are going to try the mall Santa this week just to see if we can't crack a smile!

Sam's favorite snack right now is popcorn. He asks all times of the day and everyday. Here is a video of us making popcorn:

Hope everyone stays safe in the cold and enjoys time with their loved ones this week!

Happy Halloween!

Sam was really into Halloween this year. Since he really likes Toy Story, we decided he would like to be a cowboy for Halloween just like Woody. Even though his costume doesn't look exactly like Woody, Sam didn't seem to notice. He went Trick or Treating at Will's office and then enjoyed handing candy out to our Trick or Treaters (he often went to our neighbor's house and helped him hand out his candy, too).

Daddy and Sam have a good laugh while Sam eats some candy and Daddy puts his boot back on.

In this video, Sam was enjoying a bedtime snack while watching Daddy handed out candy at the front door.

Here are a few fall pictures. Sam really likes pumpkins and posing with Lexi!

Sam has also become the little helper. He wants to help with household tasks like cleaning, making dinner and washing laundry. While his help slows things down a bit, it does make him feel like part of these daily/weekly duties.

And finally, I said in the last post that Sam thinks his baby sister is in his belly. I have a video and I just love how it shows his age right now. The pregnancy is right on track and I'm 24 weeks this week. She is a very active little girl which helps to reassure us that she is growing and strong!

Trip to Michigan

We went on a family trip to Michigan during the first weekend of October. It was a little cold but we really enjoyed the fall colors. Sam liked the children's museum, picking apples at the orchard and walking on the beach. Here are a few pictures:

Sam continues to entertain us. We've been telling him that there is a baby sister in Mommy's belly. Now when you ask him where the baby is, he pulls up his own shirt and says, "belly." We look forward to preparing a little girl's room and getting Sam settled into a big boy room.
Happy fall to everyone!

Pretend play and sitting on the potty

Great news- Sam has realized what it means to sit on the potty. While he does not have dry diapers, he has made the connection between sitting on the potty (which we've been doing for a while) and peeing! Yea! It could still be a while before he can really hold his bladder but we'll take every victory we can get.

Playing pretend is one of Sam's favorite things and we got a great deal on a little playhouse for him. He loves to pretend he is cooking or talking on the phone. He definitely isn't shy about thinking the food he "cooks" is good (listen for him to say "mmm, good"). I wish I could say the same about my cooking.

His other favorite thing right now is flipping. This will get pretty difficult to do in the next few months as my waistline expands. Just like a toddler, he asks to do everything AGAIN.

We all came down with cold or flu symptoms but everyone is on the upswing. Just in time since we are heading out for a long weekend vacation to Michigan. It will be a little chilly but we are hoping the fall colors have started to show.
